Cinderella's Ditch Their Princess

Why in the world would hundreds of women get up before dawn just to ride around the East Bay all day? Because this ride rocks! All women, not catty. Every spring, the Cinderella Classic takes place - starting at Dublin High School to tour 100 kilometers through Dublin, Pleasanton, and San Ramon.

Twelve excellent ladies from SF took off on a BART train at 6.00 am to partake in a challenging yet scenic ride, filled with women of all skill levels, and to eat plenty of delicious snacks. The variety of riders ranged from senior citizens, to a very pregnant woman riding tandem with her teenage daughter, followed by a younger daughter on an extension, with a toddler in an attached trailer as well.

This was my second Cinderella ride and I learned from last year that it's best to leave early to avoid the afternoon wind. Towards the 3/4 mark the lemon drop man hands out a sugar rush to all the winded women to get them to the finish. This is not a race but a fully-supported ride with three stops; each loaded with food. When you finish you get a finisher patch, hot soup, and a satisfied smile for more info on this ride contact Stephanie. Join us next year for the ultimate female solidarity! - Stephanie
