Team Glue
began in 1996 as a racing team comprised exclusively of San Francisco
messenger women. SF has an exceptionally high percentage of messenger
women, thanks in part to the efforts of Lickety Split Delivery, the all-women
messenger company, and the support of women bikers provide each other
there. As our bios illustrate we have all been active within the messenger
community while pursuing our own highly diverse outside interests. The
most excellent aspect of the messenger world is that it is a meeting ground
for independently-minded individuals who might not otherwise meet. This
is certainly the case with our Alex from Canadia and Sheona from Glasgow.
The Cycle Messenger World Championships,
beginning in Berlin in 1993, has built an international messenger community.
Our introduction to this race was in 1996 when SF hosted CMWC. Team Glue
established ourselves as DFL team, a tradition we have upheld in many
an alleycat race. We are genuinely more interested in the cooperation
and mutual aid in the messenger community than competition and have, instead
excelled at organizing races, concerts, art shows, parties, messenger
'zines, web sites, and perhaps most importantly, our union organizing
drive.
