Graduation
Victor
Manning wept from the pain in his arms and legs. For ten hours
he'd labored on a chain gang.
Tomorrow he thought he would sit in his cell staring at the bars
and walls until the pleasure of the pain eased. It was the first
time in months that he got away from his cell.
He learned that writing to the Congressman, Brad Thomason, about
the prison's cruelty only made everyone in the system angry and
he was the one who'd suffered. It wasn't the first time.
He was a slow learner, which explained why he was caught stealing
twice before.
"I must have wanted to get caught," Victor said. "But,
I know better now. Prison is a school from which I'll be graduating
soon."
Victor wept again, this time from the sore muscles in his head.

The gun rang like a telephone and Terry Bloth's worst friend died. And, when the cops were through, they arrested Terry and his best friend Sam McDonnel. For two months they sat in prison beside evil men, before there was a break in the case and the psychology of Sally Worth. Without saying I'm sorry the police released the two men, whose lives were ruined by the time they'd spent in jail.
And, the next time there was a ring of gun fire, it was Terry and Sam killing men and women who weren't concerned about their lives. Then, when the police arrived, the two men shot up their flesh, adding two more bags to the mess that'd become their lives.
